Educational School Tours 2008

A fun filled day at the farm!  Only $6 per student

Pumpkin Facts

On your tour, Cedar Hill’s Friendly Farmer will explain:

  • How pumpkins grow
  • The pumpkin farmer’s enemies
  • The correct way to pick a pumpkin
  • Some of the different pumpkin varieties
  • The best use for each variety
  • Our farm animals and give students the opportunity to pet a few
  • Some different types of farm equipment (combine, tractor, etc.)

 

The students will:

  • Pick a pumpkin to take back to school/home
  • Enjoy a hayride out to the pumpkin patch
  • Enjoy playtime in our Canna Lily Maze
  • Have lots of fun!

Each student will take home an activity book of the farm for further learning and fun.

In addition to our basic school program, which is based on pumpkins, their growth and harvest, we enrich the information covered for different grades with the following topics:

Pre-K

  • Animals on our farm and how they make up a family (bull, cow, calf; rooster, hen, chick, etc.)
  • The difference between a pumpkin, gourd, squash

Grade 1 – 2

  • Different plants on our farm
  • Growth and changes in our farm animals
  • Daily and seasonal cycles in the pumpkin patch

Grade 3 and up

  • History of the farm
  • Air and water in the environment (relating to the farm)
